Florence Regional Airport is committed to serving the public by effectively and efficiently utilizing the talents of its staff and other resources to plan, develop and safely operate the Regional Airport System to enhance and support air commerce and economic development within the Pee Dee Regional Airport District.

The extraordinary vision of area leaders initiated the 1928 purchase of 300 acres of land on which today's Florence Regional Airport stands.  With the onset of World War II, the military added 1,400 more acres and used the site as a training base.  Shortly after World War II, the property was deeded back to the City of Florence, and later split with Florence County.  In 1999 operation of the Florence Regional Airport were assigned to the Pee Dee Regional Airport Authority, which is made up of nine representatives from the Pee Dee Regional Airport District. 

The Pee Dee Regional Airport District includes the City of Florence, and the counties of Florence, Dillon, and Marion - the heart of the Pee Dee region of South Carolina.  Together, these areas are collaborating and committed to furthering the prosperity of the area by providing reliable and cost-effective air transportation to the masses.

Recent airport renovations have expanded the parking facility and streamlined the passenger waiting areas. The Florence Regional Airport has many more enhancements on the drawing board to further improve the facility and to meet the needs of the valued travelers. With over 75 years of continuous service to the public, the Florence Regional Airport is well positioned to continue meeting the needs of the Pee Dee community for years to come.
